Dealing With Low Libido

Wanting and needing to have sex is as biologically ingrained our species as our appetite for food and drink. However, since we are a complicated mass of muscle, tissue, fat, nerves and sinew, we also have the ability to lose our appetite for sex, just as we can lose our desire to eat. Low libido is defined as a loss of interest in sex and it is a common problem that affects men and women of all ages. While nobody is going to die if they do not have sex (although this does sound like a good plot device for an adult movie), a low libido can be indicative of other health problems and should be addressed.

Having a libido that is lower than normal can be a sign of specific physiological problems that need to be addressed.  In men, it could be a sign of poor blood circulation which is the result of damage to the arteries and blood vessels. It could also be a sign of too much physical fatigue and your body’s way of telling you that it needs more rest. Since a healthy body and heart are closely linked to a healthy erection, the inability to sustain one might be a reason to see a doctor and to get a good checkup.  A lowered libido may also be a sign of hormonal imbalance in both men and women.

Low libido might also come about because of underlying psychological issues. Difficulties in the relationship, stress from work, self esteem issues, and depression can all play a part in a lowered sex drive.  In men this can end up being a cyclical problem due to their tendency to link their sexual prowess with their perceived masculinity. A low sex drive might end up causing further feeling of anxiety, guilt and depression which will further feed the problem unless something is done to break the cycle.

Going to a doctor to get a regular checkup to make sure all your plumbing and wiring is doing good is the first thing you should to do if you find yourself lacking the desire to have sex. You may also want to consider therapy to help you deal with any other conflicting issues that may be contributing to your lowered sex drive. A doctor may be able to prescribe something or give advice that will help bring the urge to procreate back.

Certain herbal supplements have also helped men and women with their low libido.

Ginseng, for example has been used for centuries as a way to increase sex drive and libido in both men and women. Scientists have even discovered that ginsenoside (a component of ginseng) has a direct effect on the sex organs, helping facilitate erections in men and arousal in women.

Ginger has also been used to help bring about arousal. Another herb known as Tribulus terresteris, has been shown to increase the level of the sex hormone testosterone in men, significantly increasing their sex drive.

The bark of the yohimbe tree is actually prescribed by many doctors to help men cope with lowered sex drive.

Epimedium (horny goat weed) naturally increases the NO levels in the blood in the same way that the most popular prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction do.

Increase stamina, size, and sex drive with Zenerect.
